Private Tasting Room
Roche Winery offers our VIP Private TastingRoom, the Derryshanogue (Der-ē-Shan-ōg). Room, and outdoor patio year round to be rented for both your daytime or nighttime event or gathering.
This room is ideal for a more intimate, private hosting experience as it is set back from the entrance and located in a separate building on the grounds of Roche Winery’s downtown Sonoma tasting space. Your guests will have the opportunity to participate in a more secluded tasting which is separated from the retail operation of the tasting room, with your own dedicated tasting room, custom-built tasting bar and Roche Winery host.
Our Derryshanogue Room is comfortably decorated and uniquely designed. The room features a custom-built tasting bar as its centerpiece handcrafted from recycled redwood and fir which was gathered from a historic barn on our family’s southern Sonoma cattle ranch. The indoor walls of this intimate venue are also decorated with recycled redwood paneling as well as with used oak barrels which stored several of our family’s award-winning reserve wines. Stained concrete flooring adds a touch of warmth and greets guests at your affair. Finally, the room’s burgundy painted French doors and antique, original construction wood framed windows open up to a tree shaded patio decorated with local art and a comfortable seating area that can extend any gathering to include as much or as little of Roche Winery’s tasting space as you may require.

- 125 guests (indoors & outdoors, Derryshanogue Room + outdoor patio + indoor tasting room/porch)

Our wine club members, or Carneros Club members, enjoy unique access to this venue. In addition, our club members receive special discounts and pricing if they reserve this venue for a private event. Please contact our winery for more details.
Reservation Details
Advanced reservations and a deposit are required to book our Derryshanogue Room (i.e. Minimum 72 hour advance booking required). Light bites and barrel tasting can be added to customize your affair. Numerous seating arrangements are also possible. So…why did we name it the “Derryshanogue” Room?
Genevieve Roche’s father, John Donlon, was born in a farm house in the tiny, welcoming Irish village of Derryshanogue (Der-ē Shan-ōg) in County Longford, and, in fact, several of his nieces and nephews still live there. For generations, our family has farmed peet and cattle on the farms dotting the Irish countryside here. Derryshanogue is a tiny village, even for Ireland, and if someone has heard of it, they either know our family or they ARE family!
Some of our fondest memories have been sharing a meal at either Paddy’s or Mickey’s house during our visits to Ireland over the years. As our cousin Eda always states, as she opens the door for us when we drop by to enjoy her wonderful home cooked meals, “You are welcome here!”
