San Francisco Chronicle Includes Roche in “Top Sonoma Places for Wine Tasting”

San Francisco Chronicle, July 2010

Roche Winery’s downtown Sonoma tasting room was showcased in San Francisco Chronicle’s selections of Top Sonoma Places for Wine Tasting, as not only a place to taste wine, but in their “spacious” new downtown location you can also order food from their appetizer menu as well bring a picnic and friends. “With the city of Sonoma less than an hour’s drive north of the Golden Gate Bridge, a trip to Wine Country doesn’t get much easier”.

Roche Earns Top Honors Again at the SF Chronicle Wine Competition

Well, Michael and Peter have done it again. Our winemaker, Michael Carr, and associate winemaker, Peter Kruse, took away several medals from the 2010 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition including “Best in Class, Judge’s Choice” for our 2007 French Oak Reserve Chardonnay, “Double Gold” for our 2007 American Oak Reserve Chardonnay, and Bronze medals for our 2008 Carneros Estate Chardonnay, 2006 Carneros Estate Syrah, and 2007 Carneros Estate Pinot Noir. The largest competition of American wines in the world, the Chronicle Wine Competition has awarded Roche Winery eight gold medals or “Best in Class” awards since 2006. We invite you to taste these award-winning wines at our downtown Sonoma tasting room or at our upcoming “Pre-Spring Fling” event – but hurry because these wines won’t be around much longer. Congratulations to both Michael and Peter!

Wall Street Journal says “Saddle Up for Fun” at Roche Winery

October 23, 2009

We’re extremely proud to announce that the The Wall Street Journal recently featured our horseback riding tour operation in the paper’s Weekend Journal section. In the October 23, 2009 edition of the Journal’s “Food & Drink” section, our winery’s horseback riding vineyard tours were featured among only a handful of other tour offerings around the world. Highlighted operations include one in Santa Barbara (California), Echo and Dundee Hills (Oregon), and even a horseback tour in the Bordeaux wine region of France! Well, no French spoken here, but what we can offer is a good old Sonoma wine country experience on horseback. So, why not come out and saddle up for a ride through our vineyards – perhaps during the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend – and experience it for yourself!

Wine Enthusiast Magazine recommends “Sip and Stitch” at Roche Winery

November 19, 2009

Carrie Roche gets credit for this wonderful mention in the Wine Enthusiast Magazine: “Roche Winery in Carneros not only hosts a monthly knitting and crochet circle called Knit Sips but its tasting room manager, Carrie Roche, sells scarves and baby hats she has knitted in the tasting room, located across from the Sonoma Plaza. Roche and a handful of other employees who knit attend the gatherings and sip from their wines. Food is served too. “Everyone is encouraged to invite friends who want to learn knitting or crochet because we all enjoy teaching the craft of fiber art,” Roche says”

Town & Country Magazine Features Horseback Riding at Roche

Spring/Summer 2009 Edition

Yes, it’s true! We are proud to say that Roche Carneros Estate Winery and our trail rides operation are featured as “The Perfect Honeymoon Destination” in the current national issue of Town & Country Weddings magazine (Spring/Summer 2009 edition, p.93). Our horseback ride past rows of Chardonnay grapes is seen as a great experience for newlyweds and a “must stop” as part of any California Wine Country romance package. “Thank you” to Town & Country magazine – we are much obliged! We invite you to come on out for a horseback ride through our vineyards and experience it for yourself!

Global Traveler Magazine says “Quench Your Thirst at Roche!”

December 2008

Roche Winery is currently featured by Global Traveler magazine on its web site’s eFlyer “Dollars & Sense” section. Together with local Inn Marin (www.innmarin.com), we offer a “Vineyard Tour on Horseback” room and horseback ride package. For information on this great package, please contact Inn Marin or go to Global Traveler’s website at http://www.globaltravelerusa.com/showarticle.php?id=3986

KRON-TV Morning News Features Roche Wine and Vineyard Horseback Tours

August 2008

Brendan Roche and Michael Carr were recently interviewed on “Heard It Through the Grapevine” on the KRON-4 Morning News. On air, they discussed our horseback riding operation, our recently sold out 2006 Carneros Estate Chardonnay (awarded “Double Gold” Best Chardonnay in the 2008 SF International Wine Competition), and provided insight into Michael’s unique winemaking style.
