Best Tasting Room Fireplaces in Sonoma

You. Your date. Two glasses of wine. A roaring fire.

A romantic daydream, a day on the wine-tasting circuit — or why not both?

Some of our favorite winery tasting rooms in Sonoma and Napa have stunning fireplaces that are absolutely perfect for a cozy, romantic winter wine-tasting experience. Read on to learn where to find them and what to expect when you arrive.

Roche Winery

At Roche Winery, our first love is the art of winemaking and we like to share that passion with our visitors. We offer tasting experiences to our guests at both our production winery on the valley floor outside Sonoma and at our tasting room in downtown Sonoma.

We want our guests to be as comfortable as possible when they join. So we have not one, not two, but three outdoor fireplaces: two on our production facility’s patio and one in the outdoor space at our downtown Sonoma tasting room. Neither location requires reservations, but fireside seating is usually at a premium, so we invite you to arrive early and stay a while.

Lambert Bridge Winery

Located about an hour up the road from us in Healdsburg, Lambert Bridge Winery has been producing exquisite wines for nearly 50 years. Even by the standards of Sonoma County wineries, its grounds are lush and beautiful.

And that’s just the start. Inside, you’ll find an imposing stone fireplace in the main tasting room. Alternately glowing and roaring on chilly days, it’s sure to put you in a cozy mood as you sample its winemaker Jennifer Higgins’ stunning cellar-aged reds. Once your experience has concluded and you’ve had a chance to warm up by the fire, be sure to tour the outdoor gardens — worth a look year-round.

Round Pond Estate

Round Pond Estate sits just over the hill in Napa, but we won’t hold it against them. With stunning mountain and vineyard views, their spacious tasting patio is second to none, and it’s made all the better by a grand outdoor fireplace that throws off plenty of heat on cool days.

Even as you enjoy the comfort of a flickering fire, Round Pond Estate is the place to drift outside your taste buds’ comfort zone. If you have more than an hour to spare, try one of its signature “culinary tours,” which pair Round Pond wines with estate-produced olive oil and locally sourced meats, cheeses, and other delicacies.

V. Sattui Winery

V. Sattui is another Napa fixture we’ve been following for years. It’s right up the road from Round Pond, so you can hit both on the same day — and compare their tasting room fireplaces while you’re at it. Be sure to book your experience in the Vittorio Tower Tasting Room, where you’ll find the fireplace. Some experiences are seasonal, so your options may change depending on when you visit.

Benovia Winery

Located near Santa Rosa, in the heart of Sonoma County, Benovia Winery’s intimate Ranch House tasting room features a modern stone fireplace that adds to the place’s rustic yet chic ambiance. Reservations are required, so be sure to book ahead.
