Our Winemaker's Influence on the Winery's Design

Our social media team asked our winemaker, Michael Carr, to share some of his thoughts about the construction and design of the new Roche winery. Michael has been making award-winning wine for our family for more than 22 years and has been heavily involved since the inception with the planning of this soon-to-be constructed winery.

The most important delivery required for the construction of our new winery has arrived today on schedule. Today our buildings have arrived! Manufactured in Oregon, and having arrived in many pieces, the building is already being prepped for erection by our crews on site.

The wettest winter on record in Sonoma County has finally subsided and we now have the opportunity to begin construction on the new Roche Winery! After the concrete footings were poured in mid-April, on the days it wasn’t raining, we scrambled to install all the under-slab plumbing, refrigeration, and electrical, and prep the building pad for the concrete pour.

Ground Broken on New Roche Winery Construction

After having recently received the new Roche Winery Site grading permit, the Roche Family and Lunny Engineering have broken ground on the first phase of the new Roche Winery! This is an exciting step for the Roche family as we embark on this long-awaited plan to locate all of our winemaking operations within our family’s estate vineyards in southern Sonoma.

To keep up with the rapid growth of the Roche brand, our family decided in 2013 to embark on a plan to build a new production facility on one of our vineyard properties in southern Sonoma Valley. A modern, state-of-the-art facility is planned with a production capacity of up to 30,000 cases annually.
